Ps Taiyo Konda - Sunday - 1st August 2021
|(No Video This Week - It was a zoom call and was not recorded)|
|The first in our series of our new theme|
was such a timely reminder as Ps Taiyo reminded us that our peace, comfort, provision, protection... all comes as we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
There is a story found in the book of Matthew where Peter does the impossible - he walks on water (Matthew 14:22-33). All is going well for Peter until he takes his eyes off Jesus and begins to pay attention to the waves. In this moment he begins to sink, but Jesus, in his grace and mercy, pulls Peter out of the water and brings him back to the safety of the boat. As we reflect on this story, we notice that the circumstances themselves don't change. What changes is where Peter fixes his attention.
On Sunday, Pastor Taiyo reminded us that even in our darkest hour, when we take our eyes off the waves and the problem and focus them on Jesus, we can walk over any obstacle that is thrown at us.
Three ways to build our foundations on Jesus
1) Plant yourself in God’s house -
2) Use what God has already put in your hand -
3) Cultivate an atmosphere of worship -
This week, in all the chaos and uncertainty, we are invited to walk with confidence as we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. It is when our focus is set on him that we can overcome every wave, standing firm in our faith in the midst of the storms.
